Intramedullary Nail
Features:
1. To facilitate a more seamless nail into the trochanter's apex, cannulated intramedullary nails use a 5° angle of proximal abduction in their construction.
2. Both threaded and blade types have an optional lag screw.
3. The anti-rotation screw design helps stop nails from slipping and coming off.
4. To resist the anti-rotation screw and avoid slippage, the lag screw's shank features an uneven groove.
5. Younger individuals are more suited for threaded lag screws.
6. Compression of cancellous bone results from the blade lag screw being squeezed, which raises bone density.
7. The blade lag screw head's bone cement hole design strengthened the screw's pullout resistance and gave patients with osteoporosis a solid fix.
