One combination of Φ8.0 external fixator devices is the ankle stabilization frame. There exist diverse combination techniques for distinct applications.
The actual operation will depend on the fracture; this frame is merely meant to serve as a guide.
Specifics of the frame:
Minimal external fixation is necessary for stable fixation of the ankle joint fracture, possibly in conjunction with internal fixation.
Place one 4mm bone screw in the first metatarsal and three 5mm bone screws, each, into the calcaneus and humeral shaft. Attach all of the bone screws using four pins to the rod. Next, use two lever clamps VII and a ~\8 L200mm connecting rod (straight type) to attach the front components to the triangle frame. Finally, lock.
